Welcome to my Ektachrome Gallery

Ektachrome is an interesting film stock compared to some of the more common Portra 400 or Gold 200.
but what makes it so interesting? if anything it’s the fact that this film stock is a colour reversal film stock, AKA “Slide Film”. Meaning it appears as a positive rather than a negative

Special thanks to Silver Halide Studios, they are the only ones in Perth that can professionally develop in E6, and they are awesome people, more info on Silver Halide Studios at the end of this page

Oh, also I forgot to mention that all of these images are shot on a Canon AE-1 Which means 35mm!

This shot was awesome! it was a quick shot inside of a place called “The Butcher Shop”. I recon the cool part is that it illustrates the color range of this film

I forget the station as I don’t commonly take the midland line, but its one of those impulse shots, whats interesting is the range in the highlights, admitidly I had to bring it up by a stop in photoshop.

These shots were taken in an awesome little Record/Flower shop on William Street, Northbridge

A nice shot of a withering flower on the way from Challis to my house. I love the water droplets here (Kinda makes me want to take this on Cinestill 50D for some extra sharpness)

Huge Contrast between the previous shot. I know, but this shot was taken on William street. It was a cool tree so I just had to take a photo of it

Taken near the tree photo on William street. if anything this shows how annoying it can be working with slide film, this shot feels a little overexposed by one stop but then you wouldn’t have alot of detail in those shadows of the chair

Here’s an awesome one of an AusPost Post Box, I actually took this photo because I saw the shadow and had to take a photo of it. that being said It does bring back some childhood memories of having to put mail in these red boxes, especially Netflix CDs!

Again, a huge thanks to the people at Silver Halide Studios.

they are genuinely amazing people and are very great to chat with.
They have little drop boxes around Perth where you can drop off your film and they will develop them for you, but as I said, they are amazing people and I strongly recommend going to their awesome studio in Mount Lawley.

Ektachrome requires an E6 development process, which is a 6 step process and requires a lot more time than conventional C41, this means E-6 will take a little longer to develop, so expect a longer turnaround time than usual, but the wait is worth the money, as the second option is mailing your film to South Australia.
